This guide shows you how to quickly and safely disassemble a VW 5C Magotan smart key using a Yanhua Vtool 5C 5D Key Cutting Kits, for battery replacement, shell replacement, or internal repair.
Tools Needed (Included in Vtool):
Pry tool
T5 Torx screwdriver
Straight screwdriver
Step 1: Open the Back Cover
Find the gap near the mechanical key slot.
Insert the pry tool into the gap.
Gently lift to open the back cover partially.
Place your thumb on the back cover and push it forward to slide it off completely.


Step 2: Remove the Battery and Mechanical Key
Use the pry tool to lift the battery out of the compartment.
Pull the mechanical key straight out of its slot.

Step 3: Remove the Internal Screw and Push Out the Base
Locate the small internal screw.
Use a T5 Torx screwdriver to remove the screw.
Place your thumb on the base and push firmly to slide the base out of the housing.


Step 4: Separate the Glued Top Cover
The top cover is reinforced with glue.
Insert the screwdriver through the key slot. The shank tilts outward, then lift it with force.
Make the top cover degum.
Use a tool to pry open the top cover buckle along this gap, and then remove the top cover.



Step 5: Remove the Inner Shell
Locate the gap between the inner and outer shells.
Insert a flathead screwdriver into the gap and pry upwards.
Repeat from another point if needed, then lift out the inner shell completely.
