Technical FAQ
Q1: What does CGDI CG-MLB need to be used with? Is it picky about the keys?
It works with original factory keys or aftermarket keys that use the original factory protocol. CGDI will also release dedicated companion sub-keys.
Q2: Does it support sub-keys from other manufacturers?
Yes, as long as the sub-key uses the original factory protocol. Non-original protocol keys are not supported.
Q3: Is it only for adding keys? Does it require soldering the original car key to read it?
Yes. The CGDI CG-MLB is designed for key adding functions. Without the solder-free adapter, wiring and soldering are required. With the adapter, technicians only need to remove the key PCB and place it directly onto the adapter platform.
Q4: Can CG-MLB read key data and complete programming completely standalone?
No. The device requires online server calculations, so an internet connection is necessary during operation.
Q5: Are there any prerequisites for reading data, such as tokens, credits, or specific sub-keys?
The platform includes one free online calculation per day. It also supports free calculations using CG sub-key tokens.
Q6: Is there an annual fee?
No annual subscription fee is required.
Q7: Can this be connected to a laptop?
Yes. The CG-MLB can connect directly to a PC/laptop or work together with the CGDI K2 platform.
Q8: How exactly do you use it?
Detailed tutorials and operation guides will be released separately.
Q9: What vehicle models and key types are currently supported?
At present, the device supports MLB-EVO and MQB48 platforms.
Q10: Does it support All Keys Lost (AKL) for MLB/MQB48?
No. The vehicle must still have an original key capable of starting the vehicle in an emergency, even if remote or smart functions are damaged.
Q11: If the owner no longer has an original factory key, but already has a previously added fully functional CG sub-key, can MQB48 keys still be added by reading data from that CG key?
Yes. A properly working CG-generated sub-key can also be used for MQB48 key addition.
Important Notes
This CGDI CG-MLB is intended primarily for key adding operations.
Non-original protocol aftermarket keys are not supported.
